USEFUL INFORMATION FOR INCOMING STUDENTS

 

ACADEMIC YEAR

October to September.
The first SEMESTER courses usually start at the beginning of October and last until January, while the second SEMESTER courses last from the end of February until June.
Please note that some Faculties may have different calendars (e.g. I SEMESTER courses at the Faculties of Medicine and Political Sciences last from September to December; Law courses last from mid-October until April).

ACADEMIC HOLIDAYS

Christmas and New Year's Day holidays: from 23rd December until 7th January.
Ambrosian Carnival holidays (3 days, during the Carnival week).
Easter holidays: from Thursday to Wednesday, during the Easter period.
1st May.
15th August.
1st November (All Saints).
7th December (St Ambrose, Patron Saint of Milan).
8th December (Immaculate Conception)

 

HOW TO REACH THE UNIVERSITY

The main campus of the Università degli Studi di Milano is located in the central Via Festa del Perdono 7, where the Office of the Rector and the Central Administration are situated. The SOCRATES/ERASMUS Office is located in Via S. Antonio 12, three minutes on foot from Via Festa del Perdono; buses, trams and the underground (Duomo - line 1, Missori - line 3) stop nearby.
"Città Studi" is easily reached by underground line 2 (Piola station).
If you are arriving from abroad:

  • Linate Airport is about 10 km. from the centre of Milan. Take bus N° 73 for the city centre as far as Piazza San Babila (underground line 1 - red line), a few minutes away from the Università degli Studi di Milano.
  • Malpensa Airport is about 50 km. from the centre of Milan. There are links to the Central Station * (shuttle bus - tickets cost € 6.71) and Cadorna Railway Station (Malpensa Express).
  • *The Central Station (Stazione Centrale), Milan's main railway station , is located at the hub of the transport network (buses, trams and underground line 2 - green line, underground line 3 - yellow line).
